Evidence-based
Grounded in credible evidence and real-world clinical practice.
State Advocacy
Healthcare policy is not made only in Washington.
State legislatures, medical boards, pharmacy boards, and other regulatory bodies make decisions that can directly affect how providers practice, what treatments patients may access, and whether individualized care remains available.
PHA is building a state-level advocacy capability to engage early, before poorly constructed policies become entrenched or replicated across states.
Protect patients. Preserve responsible access. Defend independent medical judgment.
State Advocacy
Many of the rules that shape personalized healthcare are created and enforced at the state level.
State action can affect what providers may prescribe or recommend, how emerging therapies are regulated, how telemedicine is practiced, whether compounding pharmacies can fill lawful patient-specific prescriptions, and how much clinical judgment remains with the provider.
These decisions can affect the broader healthcare ecosystem, including patients, providers, telehealth organizations, provider networks, pharmacies, and other organizations that support individualized care.
PHA’s State Priority
PHA supports state policy that protects patients while preserving the ability of qualified providers to make individualized treatment decisions based on evidence, clinical judgment, and the circumstances of the patient. We advocate for policy that is:
Grounded in credible evidence and real-world clinical practice.
Protective of patients without creating unnecessary barriers to lawful care.
Workable and understandable for providers and healthcare organizations.
Supportive of independent medical decision-making within appropriate standards of care.
Able to evolve as medicine, technology, and evidence advance.
State Advocacy
PHA’s state advocacy may include issues involving telemedicine and prescribing, peptides and emerging therapies, compounding, regenerative medicine, hormonal and metabolic health, and other areas of personalized medicine. Our work can include:
The goal is to engage early, bring credible expertise to the table, and help shape policy before problematic approaches become established or spread to other states.
